Dr Eva-Maria Arends-Berling completed her bilingual Abitur (English-German) in Braunschweig. She studied law at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel and at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, specialising in international family law, inheritance law and procedural law. During her studies, she gained experience in litigation and strategic dispute resolution at an international commercial law firm in Frankfurt am Main. Due to her affinity for procedural law, Dr Arends-Berling completed her PhD in international civil procedure law.

She completed her legal traineeship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg, including a period at an international commercial law firm practising litigation and dispute resolution. Since her admission to the bar, Dr Arends-Berling has advised private individuals as well as family offices and foundations on all inheritance and corporate law issues and, in accordance with her training, has conducted numerous court and arbitration proceedings, also including international elements. She also provided legal and practical support for several wills and trusts. After having worked in a Hamburg based boutique for inheritance and family law for more than five years, where she was exclusively practising inheritance law, Dr Arends-Berling has started working for our Hamburg office in the field of inheritance and corporate law in January 2021.

Dr Arends-Berling has completed the training as an executor of wills (DVEV) and is a specialist lawyer for inheritance law.
